COURSE INFORMATION AND FEATURE

Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) specialize in physician-based settings such as physician offices, group practices, multi-specialty clinics, or specialty centers.

CCS-P professionals review patient records.

Assign numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure.

Possess in-depth knowledge of the CPT coding system.

Are experts in health information documentation, data integrity, and quality

Play a critical role in a health provider’s business operations, because patients’ coded data is submitted to insurance companies or the government for expense reimbursement.

The CCS-P Exam
  • 97 multiple choice questions.

  • 79 scored questions and 18 pretest questions.

  • The pre-test items are scrambled randomly throughout the test.

The CPPM Certification Exam
  • 8 Medical Scenarios with three separate questions each.  They will require candidates to pick from a range of codes/ list to answer each question.

  • 4 hours exam duration.

A certification examination is based on an explicit set of competencies. These competencies have been determined through a job analysis study conducted by practitioners. The skills are divided into domains and tasks as shown in the PDF below. Examinations test only content about the following competencies.
